General Information About the Conference |

Meeting Site |
The conference will be held at the Baltimore
Convention Center; 1 W. Pratt Street, Baltimore, Maryland USA,
easily accessed by Baltimore Washington International Airport and
Amtrak Railroad, Baltimore Light Rail and Subway, major highways
leading into Baltimore, as well as numerous restaurants, shops,
and sight-seeing attractions. The Convention Center is also within
walking distance of the Baltimore Inner Harbor. |

Transportation |
Automobile: A map and driving
directions are available at the Baltimore Convention Center
website:

as well as the registration insert. However, there is no parking
at the Convention Center; but visitors can park in city lots and
garages.
Bus: The National Computer Security
Center and the National Institute of Standards and Technology will
present the 23rd Annual National Information Systems Security
Conference at the Baltimore Convention Center, October 16-19,
2000.
Daily bus service to the Convention Center will be provided
from Cardiac Hall (across from the FANX III). Buses will leave at
7:00 AM Monday through Thursday, and 11:00 AM Monday through
Wednesday. Buses will leave the Convention Center to return to
FANX III at 2:00 PM Monday through Wednesday and at the end of the
final session each day (approximately 5:00 PM) and after the
workshops on Thursday (approximately 6:00 PM).
On Monday, October 16th an Awards Ceremony and Reception will
be held. A bus will arrive at 7:30 PM to pick up passengers who
stay for the ceremonies and drop them off at FANX III. On
Wednesday, October 18th the Conference Banquet will be held at the
Renaissance Hotel, 202 East Pratt Street. A bus will pick up
passengers at 9:30 PM in front of the hotel and drop them off at
FANX III.

Proceedings |
A hard copy and CD-ROM of the conference
proceedings will be included as part of the registration packet
for all attendees. |
|
Communications |
Messages will be taken for Conference
attendees between the hours of 8 a.m. and 5 p.m. Monday through
Thursday. Messages will be posted on a message board adjacent to
the Registration / Information Area. Attendees will not be called
out of a meeting except in emergencies. The phone numbers for
leaving messages will be posted on the message board. |

Evaluation Forms |
Evaluation forms will be provided in your
conference folder for your comments. Please leave the completed
forms in the boxes provided at the registration area. We thank you
in advance for your comments since your comments help the
committee to develop and improve the Conference program each year.

Special Interest
Rooms |
There will be a limited number of rooms
available for special interest discussions ("Birds of a
Feather," etc.). These rooms may be reserved in one-hour
increments and must not be used for commercial purposes. Call the
NCSC Conference Administrator at (410) 850-0272 to make a
reservation. The originator should post notice of an open meeting
on the message board. |

Food Functions |
Coffee service will be provided to all the
attendees during registration each morning and at mid-morning and
mid-afternoon breaks. Attendees will be free at lunch time to
explore the convenient restaurants near the Convention Center and
the Inner Harbor. In addition, an awards reception and banquet
will be held on Monday and Wednesday evenings, respectively. |

Awards Ceremony
and Reception |
On Monday evening, awards will be presented
to vendors who have successfully developed IT security product
lines that have been approved by the NIST Cryptographic Module
Validation Program (CMVP), the NCSC Trusted Product Evaluation
Program (TPEP), the NSA Trust Technology Assessment Program
(TTAP), the National Information Assurance Partnership (NIAP)
Common Criteria Evaluation and Validation Scheme (CCEVS), and the
System Security Engineering Capability Maturity Model (SSE-CMM).
The awards ceremony will begin at 5:30pm, followed by the
reception at 6:15 pm. |

Banquet |
The conference banquet will be held on
Wednesday evening, beginning with a cash bar reception at 6pm, and
followed by a dinner at 7pm. |
|

A block of rooms has been reserved at the

reservations and to ask about proximity to the Convention Center.
Rates are guaranteed until September 20th. When reserving a room
please mention you are attending the NISS Conference.

Registration |
The registration fee of $530 ($580 after
September 18), includes conference sessions, materials, coffee
breaks, a reception, and a banquet. The fee for the workshops on
the afternoon of October 19 is $125.
