Withdrawal of NIST Special Publication 800-106, Randomized Hashing for Digital Signatures
December 15, 2022

In January 2022, NIST's Crypto Publication Review Board initiated a review process for NIST Special Publication (SP) 800-106, Randomized Hashing for Digital Signatures (2009).

On October 18, 2022, NIST proposed to withdraw SP 800-106—and included a rationale for doing so—and called for comments on that decision proposal. During the comment period that ended November 18, 2022, NIST received no public comments.

Therefore, NIST is withdrawing SP 800-106, effective immediately.

Information about the review process is available at NIST's Crypto Publication Review Project
