New Chairperson for Computer System Security and Privacy Advisory Board

Franklin S. Reeder of The Reeder Group has been appointed by the NIST Director to serve as the next Chairperson of the Computer System Security and Privacy Advisory Board. The Board was established by the Computer Security Act of 1987 "to identify emerging managerial, technical, administrative, and physical safeguard issues relative to computer systems security and privacy. "

Mr. Reeder currently writes, teaches, and consults on information policy and management issues following a career of more than 35 years in public service. He has served at the U.S. Office of Management and Budget, the U.S. House of Representatives, and has also held positions with the Treasury and Defense Departments. While at the U.S. Office of Management and Budget, Mr. Reeder was part of the team that developed the Privacy Act of 1974 and the Computer Security Act.

He replaces Dr Willis Ware, who has chaired the Board since 1989 and whose term as Chairperson of the Board recently expired.
