COMPUTER SYSTEM SECURITY AND PRIVACY ADVISORY BOARD Resolution 97-4 September 18, 1997 At its September 1997 meetings, the Computer System Security and Privacy Advisory Board (CSSPAB) has heard from NIST as to its leadership in providing FedCIRC services to the Federal civil community. The Board commends NIST for this activity but is concerned about the expectation of funding from GITS and questions the viability of continued funding viz agency subscription. To continue providing computer security incident response services, and relevant data collection, analysis and reporting, the Board, therefore, encourages and recommends that NIST, the Department of Commerce, GITS, OMB and the CIO Council and interested Federal civil agencies identify and provide a source of funding. The Board notes that accomplishing this should be a priority basis so agencies can rely upon these services beyond FY1998.
