Note: Validation of SP 800-73-1 based PIV Middleware has been superseded by SP 800-73-2 based PIV Middleware validation. (See Announcement 6/23/2009)
Validated SP 800-73-1 based PIV Middleware products remain valid and can interoperate with all validated PIV Card Application products (both SP 800-73-1 & SP 800-73-2 based). However they will not be able to exercise the optional features introduced for SP 800-73-2 based PIV Card Applications/PIV Middleware.
The additional mandatory features implemented in SP 800-73-2 based PIV Middleware are:
Recognize and process the optional Discovery Object of SP 800-73-2 based PIV card,
Perform Verification using Global PIN and
Query the PIVMiddleware version function.
Thus, a SP 800-73-2 based PIV Middleware provides full interoperability capability – to exercise all optional features of PIV Card Applications products (both SP 800-73-1 & SP 800-73-2 based). More information can be found at Revision History and Recommendations on PIV Middleware Version Management.
The following SP 800-73-2 PIV Middleware Validation list is maintained in ascending numerical order by certificate numbers and is updated as new PIV Middleware receive validation certificates from the NPIVP.
All questions regarding the implementation and/or use of any PIV Middleware included in the validation list should first be directed to the vendor.
