To meet the FIPS 201-2 compliance some of the previously optional PIV Card credentials under FIPS 201-1 are required to be present in FIPS 201-2 PIV Card (since these credential are now mandatory). Since SP 800-73-3 PIV Middleware is required to support all optional and mandatory credentials of FIPS 201-1 compliant PIV card, it continues to remain valid under FIPS 201-2 as well.
All questions regarding the implementation and/or use of any PIV Middleware included in the validation list should first be directed to the vendor.
