Summary:
The purpose of this document is to provide guidance for securing ICS, including SCADA and DCS systems, PLCs, and other systems performing industrial control functions.

The intended audience is varied and includes the following: • Control engineers, integrators, and architects who design or implement secure ICS. • System administrators, engineers, and other information technology (IT) professionals who administer, patch, or secure ICS. • Security consultants who perform security assessments and penetration testing of ICS. • Managers who are responsible for ICS. • Senior management who are trying to understand implications and consequences as they justify and apply an ICS cybersecurity program to help mitigate impacts to business functionality. • Researchers and analysts who are trying to understand the unique security needs of ICS. • Vendors that are developing products that will be deployed as part of an ICS.
