Announcement

NIST IR 8459 is currently being prepared for final publication.  The report reviews the NIST Special Publication 800-38 series, including the limitations of the block cipher modes specified in those recommendations.

Although NIST is not requesting formal public comments, NIST IR 8459 is intended to be a reference for discussion during the upcoming Third Workshop on Block Cipher Modes of Operation, October 3-4, 2023.

Questions and comments about the report may be sent to cryptopubreviewboard@nist.gov.
