Publication Schedule

At this time, NIST is not updating our publication dates due to a review cycle being incorporated by the Office of Management and Budget, Office of Information and Regulatory Affairs.  We will announce these documents as they are cleared for publication. 

The references that are affected by this include the following publications: 

• NIST Special Publication 800-18, Revision 2, Guide for Developing System Security Plans. In development
• NIST Special Publication 800-53, Revision 5 (Final Public Draft), Security and Privacy Controls for Information Systems and Organizations. The Final Public Draft of this document was released on 3/16/2020.  The public comment period is closed and NIST is adjudicating comments.
• NIST Special Publication 800-53A, Revision 5, Assessing Security and Privacy Controls in Federal Information Systems and Organizations: Building Effective Assessment Plans. In development, publication will depend on the final publication of SP 800-53
• NIST Special Publication 800-53B (Draft), Control Baselines for Information Systems and Organizations. The Draft of this document was released on 7/31/2020.  Comments are due 9/11/2020.
• Federal Information Processing Standard (FIPS) 199, Revision 1, Standards for Security Categorization of Federal Information and Information Systems. In development, publication will depend on the final publication of SP 800-53
• Federal Information Processing Standard (FIPS) 200 Revision 1, Minimum Security Requirements for Federal Information and Information Systems. In development, publication will depend on the final publication of SP 800-53
• NIST Special Publication 800-161, Revision 1, Supply Chain Risk Management Practices for Federal Information Systems and Organizations. In development, publication will depend on the final publication of SP 800-53
• NIST Special Publication 800-172,  Enhanced Security Requirements for Protecting Controlled Unclassified Information: A Supplement to NIST Special Publication 800-171.The Final Public Draft of this document was released on 7/6/2020.  Comments are due 8/21/2020.
