One of the major objectives and responsibilities of the Information Security and Privacy Advisory Board is to identify emerging managerial, technical, administrative, and physical safeguard issues relative to information security and privacy.

The focus of the Board's work plan for late 2005 and early 2006 will be in the following areas:

  • Identity management and authentication such as Personal Identity Verification (PIV)

  • National Infrastructure Assurance Partnership (NIAP) program activities
  • Credentialing of cyber security professionals

  • Cyber security leadership in the Executive Branch

  • Privacy Act issues

  • OMB's Security Line of Business initiative
  • Role of the Federal Chief Information Security Officer/Chief Security Officer
     
  • Role of the Federal Chief Privacy Officer
     
  • Cyber Corp activities
     
  • Continuity of Operations efforts
     
  • Federal Enterprise Security Architecture

These work plans will be pursued within the bounds of the ISPAB charter.
